Education aims at converting a student into a responsible person, a person who understands one's environment, and who can exhibit one's relevance in society.

Beyond that, higher education is the endeavour to sublimate education into knowledge. Being knowledgeable means – to be able to appropriately evaluate the situation, and to behave in society with reason.

And as Plato said, Education is the enterprise to turn external eyes towards the inner soul.
शिक्षा का उद्देश्य एक विद्यार्थी को एक जिम्मेदार व्यक्ति में बदलना है, एक ऐसे व्यक्ति के रूप में जो अपने परिवेश को समझता है और समाज में अपनी प्रासंगिकता प्रदर्शित कर सकता है।

उच्च शिक्षा इससे आगे, शिक्षा को ज्ञान में बदलने का उपक्रम है। ज्ञानी होने का अर्थ है - परीस्थितियों का सही आकलन कर सकना, और अपने विवेक के अनुसार समाज में व्यवहार करना।

और जैसा प्लेटो ने कहा, शिक्षा बाहरी आंखों को अंदर मोड़ने का उपक्रम है।
